Here are a few resume samples to get you started. The work at home resume differs slightly from the typical resume, as it needs a section to list home office hardware and software. The purpose of your resume is to tell what your real life work experience is, list your previous history as it pertains to the job title you are applying for, and to list any certifications and/or education you have received. It is best to keep the resume short and easy to read, because the typical recruiter will skim quickly and look for key words. Many recruiters use software that will sort through resumes and automatically remove any that don't meet their criteria such as: keywords used in job advertisement, education level, and possibly zip code or city if there are still too many to weed through. Make your best attempt to fit everything into one page (two at the most).
Your resume should have the following elements:
- Full name and phone number (and possibly email address) on every page
- Previous five years of job positions (more if you have stayed in one company for many years) with dates, company names, job titles, and job duties
- Education and certifications
