Job Resume Format Tips Ads by WG:  $40,000 jobs | Freelance jobs | Career Assessment

Your work at home resume format should be unique from a standard resume. Almost all employers will ask for a resume, whether it be a telecommute position, or not. It is imperative to get four main points inserted into the resume that prove your abilities to work at home, work independently, meet deadlines, and create goals for yourself. Present your skills in a way the employers will see the immediate benefit of hiring you into their company.

When listing your skill set from previous job positions, list these points or find a way to write them in to flow with the rest of the text. Gear your skills towards these points and show examples of how you have used these skills.

  • Ability to work independently with little or no direction
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate any issues in a timely fashion
  • Reliable and independent
  • Goal oriented
  • If you have worked at home previously for another employer, list that prior work at home experience with emphasis

You may consider adding special information to your resume that your potential employer will want to know.

  • Assets such as high speed internet connection, up-to-date computer system, telephone system with multiple lines, printer, fax machine, or any other hardware or software that your employer will not have to purchase for you to get the job done.
  • Atmosphere, such as a quiet undisturbed environment.
  • If doing any sort of driving, the employer may want to know that you have your own vehicle that is in excellent or good condition.

Once you have your wording down, you will want to dive into resume format to make sure all the words are read and not discarded.

Email address

Your email address is a reflection of you. Email addresses are available for free through many large companies such as Yahoo, Hotmail, and Google (gmail). Stray away from using your personal "immahotkitty@womansgarden.com" and go for creating a professional image of yourself with "LJ_Smith@womansgarden.com." Your potential employer does not need to know the year of your email creation "LJ2009@womansgarden.com" or the fact that you are a mother of three "motherof3@womansgarden.com." Keep the numbers out of your email address, and make one that will be easy to remember and logical for the recruiter (matching your name). If you have a free email address at an inappropriate domain name "LJ@somenastydomain.com," go to Google and create an address there.
