From our "No College Degree Required to Work at Home" series, technical support is for those who can troubleshoot basic computer issues. Most companies will give a test for your problem solving abilities over the phone. While asking questions, they will be listening for your customer service skills and they will want to hear your smile over the phone.
Computer technical support is typically offered to customers that are technically challenged and don't want to spend their time trying to fix something that could be fixed easily by a technician.
What you may need in your work at home office to perform this job (you will find that many of these work at home technical positions will be very specific as to what equipment and software they would like you to have):
- Dedicated phone line for incoming calls
- High Speed Internet connection
- Computer less than 2 years old
- Up to date software
- Windows Xp or Windows Vista
- Multiple browsers (such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox)
