Conduct your own
Work at Home Job Search
Like the professionals do!

To conduct a job search, you need to know the phrases professionals use. Try each one of these specific phrases and see the results. Reword your favorite to pinpoint exactly what you are looking for. Each phrase is in quotations to optimize the search to find those exact words together. If you add words, put them after the last quotation mark, unless you intend to change the phrase.

Google

If copy and pasting, include the quotation marks. These search phrases will work for any of your favorite job search engines.
"This is a remote position"

"This is a telecommuting position"

"May work from anywhere"

"Must have home office"

"Candidate will work from a home office"

"Will have the option to work from home"

"Must have high speed Internet"

"This home based position"

WAHMs be safe!

If a website asks for personal information such as social security number, credit card number, or drivers license number: don't do it without research. One bad experience on the Internet can quickly hinder your progress in becoming a WAHM.

Check the company by calling the better business bureau, and also call the telecommuting business to be sure you are not giving your information to a scam artist.

When thinking about working at home, identity theft should be your main concern. Don't just trust a WAHM website to check for you. Take the time and do the "leg work."

Find a job while building your home business

Telecommuting can be your answer

Work at home jobs are becoming more commonplace in today's market. Many times, WAHMs may choose to find a telecommuting job before or while building their home business.

With gas prices rising and relocation issues, employers may find they can benefit more from happy employees who can get the job done as a WAHM rather than finding a less qualified employee closer to their location. There are certainly downfalls, but the positives of hiring someone to work at home far outweigh any negatives. The positives for WAHMs include bringing in income while discovering a home business of their own.

If you do not have a 401K plan and insurance, it could be beneficial to you to find an employer that is willing to allow you to work at home and possibly ask you to come in for certain events such as meetings. WAHMs need to put serious thought into health care and retirement, whether chosing a job or a home business or both.

If you are determined to start your own home business, consider taking a work at home telecommuting job temporarily while your home business is still in planning and building stages. If a company asks for payment of any sort, the listing is not considered a "job," and this type of request should be considered a "red flag." You can also use the WAHM work at home job search page for examples of good ways to search for a job on your own.
